Rules/Guidelines/Expectations:
I chose this poster because it embodies everything that I would like to have in my classroom. These rules are not only classroom rules, but life expectations and lessons as well.
Rule Number One: We Respect Each Other:
This rule is important to have in a classroom because in order to ensure every one in the room feels as though they can be successful, there must be respect between everyone in the room, and therefore everyone will absorb as much information as they can. Respect can cover a lot of behaviors, and it is not only a classroom rule, but an expectation for students' future lives as well.
Rule Number Two: We Try Our Best:
In a classroom, students must know that it is important and expected for them to try their best. If they try their very best, they will not fail, and there is no shame in trying as hard as they can. This rule can also be applied to students' lives outside of school, and help teach them an important life lesson.
Rule Number Three: We are a Team:
Students learn best when they know they are supported by their classmates. In my future classroom, I want students to support each other through successes and failures. Students will know that in order for the whole class to reach a goal, each individual will need to be involved. When students feel supported by their peers, they will succeed academically, as well as socially. In the future, this will help students with sports, and eventually, their careers.
Rule Number Four: We Learn From Mistakes:
In my classroom, students will know that it is completely okay to make mistakes! The best thing we can do is learn from them. This will help students academically by giving them the safety of being able to make mistakes, learn from them, and correct those mistakes for later. Again, this rule applies to life outside of school, as students will hopefully apply this to mistakes made outside of school.
Rule Number Five: We Create:
Together, as a team, my students and I will create as often as applicable. I want this rule in my classroom because my lessons will include engaging, hands-on activities that will require creativity, and I want my students to remember that they can create great things. This rule will help students become critical thinkers, develop strong imaginations, and be innovators in the future.
Rule Number Six:We Celebrate Each Other's Success:
One of the best rules on the list, celebrating our peer's success is a necessary rule to ensure classroom community. It will help students academically because they will know their peers are behind them, and each and every student will therefore strive to have success and be recognized by classmates. It also applies to their social lives, teaching them to always celebrate peers' success, and strive to succeed themselves.
